Anthony Weiner & Sexting

As the news was beginning to quiet down regarding Arnold Schwarzenegger and his affair with the maid, the public is tossed back into the world of Sex and Politics by New York Congressman Anthony Weiner.
Unlike California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who was fathering two children at the same time under the same roof- which is scandalous in itself, Weiner goes a little more high tech utilizing his cell phone.
ANTHONY Weiner, 46 and married, has finally confessed to texting pictures of his private parts to several women.  As a result of his behaviors, there are people who want Weiner to resign, others have questioned whether he is a sick pervert (www.guardian.com).  Yet, how does his behavior differ from that of former governor Spitzer, Tiger Woods and his sexual escapades with twenty women, or let's  go back even further, Woody Allen who engaged in sexual relations and married his adopted underaged steppdaughter.
Anthony Weiner's situation should continue to remind us that there is a major problem with "sexting."  Before Weiner, in May 2009 in Clifton, NJ, there was a 14 year old girl who sent 30 nude photos of herself on myspace.  This teenager  was arrested, charged with  child pornography, may face up  to seventeen years in jail, and may be required to register as a sex offender.
In August 2008, in Salt Lake City Utah, a 13 year old girl and her 12 year old boyfriend who had "consensual" sex are both being charged with engaging in sexual activity  with a minor (each other).  All Weiner is being asked to  do is resign, yet these children, and cases similar in nature, are being threatened with jail time and possibly having to register as sex offenders.
"Where is the justice for these children? "
What is your opinion on sex and politics?
Also, what should  happen to children involved with sexting?

CHILDREN BEWARE!!!

On July 11, 8 yr. old Leiby Kletzky was walking home from camp for the very first time.  News reports indicated that little Leiby had begged his parents to walk home by himself.  I'm sure 8 yr. old Leiby was excited about the opportunity to prove to his parents that he was a big boy, and could be trusted with this sense of independence.  Unfortunately, his first walk of independence, turned out to be his last.  Little Leiby encountered 35 yr. old Levi Aron, whom Leiby most likely perceived to be a trusting adult from the neighborhood.  News reports indicated that Leiby asked Aron for assistance after he (Leiby) became lost.  News reports state that instead of directly assisting the little boy, Aron allegedly later told police that he took Leiby with him to a wedding, then took him to his home (Aron) to watch television.  Upon hearing news reports that the police were looking for Leiby, Aron alleges that he panicked, smothered Leiby then proceeded to chop up Leiby's body stuffing parts of the body into his freezer.

The incident of Leiby and other children being picked up by strangers is not the first, and unfortunately will not be the last.  However what does become important is parents and guardians talking to children about "Stranger Danger" before it is too late.   Parents please sit down with your children and talk to them about being safe and ways people may try to lure them away from home (i.e. toys, animals, candy) or the types of things strangers may say to them   i.e. "Your mommy asked me to pick you up from school and bring you to my house".

By starting to have this conversation with your child(ren), you can continue the dialogue also talking to children about "Good Touch/Bad Touch", which would include when the person touching them inappropriately is not a stranger, but someone they know (i.e. family member, teacher, coach).

"Where is the justice for Caylee?"

Almost everywhere you turn, on the minds of most people is that question: "Where is the justice for Caylee?"  Back in 2008, Caylee's disappearance was reported to the police a month , later.   Her then 22 year old mother reported that Caylee had drowned in the pool.  Casey initially indicted her father as being responsible covering up the accident as a homicide, stating that he taped Caylee's mouth and dumped her body in the woods.  There is also another version that Casey said a nanny kidnaped her daughter.

Prosecutors alleged that Casey Anthony killed her daughter because motherhood interfered with partying.  They have as evidence photos showing Casey Anthony having fun at a nightclub after her daughter was reported missing.

Yesterdays verdict, in which a jury of 12 (five men, seven women) found Casey Anthony "not guilty" on charges of murder, second degree murder, or manslaughter left people stunned.  The only liability Casey Anthony will face is lying to the police.  Instead of the death penalty, these charges may result in approximately three years in jail.  Since Casey Anthony has already been in jail since 2008, she may very well walk with time served.

What are you thoughts on the verdict?
